The state of Florida offers a wide range of options for travelers due to its geographical location and its strong dependence on tourism. Whether you're looking for sandy beaches, expansive theme parks or professional sports, Florida offers all three in abundance with countless other offerings to round out a memorable trip to the South Atlantic.

Sports fans will definitely find Florida to be an accommodating area with three NFL teams (Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers), as well as two teams from the NBA (Miami Heat, Orlando Magic), NHL (Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers) and MLB (Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays) each. Along with a healthy stable of major professional sports teams, the state is also home to another thirty nine major and minor sports teams.

Florida, particularly Central Florida, also features a number of prominent theme parks. The Orlando area alone features such titans as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios, as well as Silver Springs and Gatorland. Throughout the entire state, you'll also find a plethora of amusement park options, including Busch Gardens Africa (Tampa), Boomers! (Dania), Cypress Gardens Adventure Park (Winter Haven), and Big Kahunas (Destin).

Of course, the most popular attraction in all of Florida may very well be the natural lay of the land. No matter which part of Florida you're planning on traveling to you're sure to find a good beach nearby. Overall, hundreds of miles of beach can be found in Florida, including such popular hang-outs as Daytona Beach, Panama City Beach, Clearwater Beach and Miami's South Beach.

Other than professional sporting events, world famous theme parks and a nearly never-ending expanse of beach, Florida also presents other, more culture gems to discover. The everglades of Florida, while seen by some as a nuisance, can be a wondrous trip through a strange variety of land not often seen in the United States. From exploring strange environments here on earth to learning of how we travel to alien planets, Florida visitors can also visit the Kennedy Space Center at Merritt Island.

Along with the many great reasons for visiting Florida, travelers will find that their options are open year-round as the weather nearly always greets the area with a warm, Sunshine State smile.
