Known for its outdoor activities and breathtaking beauty, Idaho is one of the greatest places to visit in the United States. Idaho was inducted into the Union on July 3, 1890 and was the 43rd state to be inducted. Well known for its outdoor wonders, Idaho is full of state and national parks.
There are eleven national parks located in Idaho. Each is different but amazing in their own way. The California national Historic Trail is a park that preserves the trail that many emigrants took on their way to a new way of life in the West. The trail began in Missouri and through over 5000 miles of trails, ended up in California. The City of Rocks National Reserve has some of the oldest granatic basolith rocks in the United States. Some of the rocks here are over 2.5 billion years old. Sport climbing is now a popular activity in this national park. The Craters of the Moon National Monument protects three major lava fields. It is also the home to the best preserved flood basalt area in the United States. The Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument is an exciting and unique place to visit. This park has the highest concentration of Hagerman horse fossils in North America. It is also home to many other prehistoric plant and animal fossils. These are just some of the amazing national parks that you can visit while touring the state of Idaho. Other state parks include: the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, the Minidoka Internment National Monument, the Nez Perce Historic Park, the Oregon National Historic Trail, Yellowstone National Park, Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, and the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area.
National parks aren't the only fun park attraction to be found in Idaho. There are a number of exciting theme parks in the state, great for families looking to have a day of fun. The Boulder Beach Water Park is a 12 acre water park that features slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, and much more. The Silverwood Theme Park is the larges theme park in Idaho. This park features over 50 rides, restaurants, shows, and much, much more. The Triple Play Family Fun Park is full of exciting activities. There is an indoor water park, bowling, bumper boats, go carts, laser tag, mini golf, an arcade, and several other attractions great for the entire family.
With all of the great things to do in Idaho, this state may be overlooked as a vacation spot, but without good reason. Visit exciting national parks or have some fun in man made theme parks. There are other exciting attractions as well. Idaho has several historic areas and attractions. There is definitely no shortage of things to do in Idaho.
