Minnesota is known as the 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' and all of those lakes make this state and outdoorsman's paradise. Aside from great hunting and fishing opportunities, there are many great attractions throughout the state. Three fifths of the population lives in the Twin Cities/Minneapolis area, thus it is teeming with things to do. There are also some wonderful activities to be found outside the city limits.

Inside the Minneapolis/St. Paul area the activities are endless. The city is most known for the Mall of America which includes over 400 stores, restaurants, and more. The nation's largest indoor theme park is located inside this mall. The Park at Mall of America has over 30 rides and attractions. There are many attractions that include: Dinosaur Walk Museums, A.C.E.S. Flight Simulator, the LEGO Exhibit, the NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, and the Underwater Adventure Aquarium. The Minnesota Zoo is home to 408 different animal species. There are several exhibits in the zoo, which are divided into areas of the world. One exhibit focuses mainly on animals that call Minnesota home, like the puma and wolverine. There is also an exhibit that features animals commonly found in the Rain Forest like gibbons and tree kangaroos. There is even an exhibit exclusively for water animals. Here you can touch sharks and dolphins, and see many other aquatic species. Kids will enjoy the Family Farm, a petting zoo that teaches kids all about the farming enterprise. The Minnesota Museum of American Art is home to more than 3,500 objects of art. Sculpture, paintings, ceramic, photography, installations, and more are all found here. The Minnesota Children's Museum features exhibits about nature, the world around us, snow, and more.

There are also many great attractions found outside the main cities of Minnesota. The Hockey Hall of Fame features exhibits on the National Hockey League, the Stanley Cup and more. There is a special area for collectors and even a tribute to Women's Hockey. The International Wolf Center is dedicated to educate the public about this endangered animal. They strive to teach that this animal isn't the bloodthirsty being most of us imagine, but a beautiful creature that is commonly killed. Here you can watch the wolf pack being studied and learn about each individual animal.

With all of the space and differing landscapes in Minnesota, it is a haven for hunters and fisherman. The 10,000 lakes of the state are rife with Northern pike and walleye, as well as perch and other smaller fish. Water sports such as waterskiing and boating are also popular along the lakes. Hunting is another great pastime in this area. The amount of game in Minnesota is staggering. There is elk, moose, bear, deer, and many types of game birds that can legally be hunted in season.

So, whether you are looking to spend some time in Minnesota's great cities, or you want to strike out and explore what the rest of the state has to offer, there is no shortage of things to do in this state. From museums, to art galleries, to zoos and wildlife preserves, finding something to do in Minnesota is far from a difficult task.
