Known for their amazing falls and picturesque winters, New Hampshire is the epitome of New England class. However, all of this class doesn't mean that you and your family can't have a fabulous time at some of their most popular attractions located all over the small state.
Called "America's Stonehenge," New Hampshire is home to the oldest man made structure in the United States. Dated back more than 4,000 years, this structure is an awesome sight for kids and adults alike. Adults will enjoy the history of the place, while children will have fun learning about the mystery of who built the structure. Was it Native Americans or a migratory European culture? The answer is still a mystery, but archaeologists are working hard to unravel the trail of questions. In addition to seeing the site, you can explore a museum to learn more about the structure and then stop by the gift shop to purchase souvenirs. Another exciting feature at the site, especially for children, is the working alpaca farm. Kids will be able to pet and feed these furry creatures to their heart's content.
Another mysterious cultural point in New Hampshire is the Enfield Shaker Museum. The Shaker religion decided to establish this museum several years ago to help explain their religion and culture. The community has long been settled in the area and is working steadfastly to preserve their history. The museum consists of several historic buildings that help to explain the culture and every day life of a Shaker. Visiting this museum is a wonderful way to learn about another culture settled right here in America.
If you want to see a really great show, head straight to the New Hampshire International Speedway. The largest track in New England, this speedway is home to NASCAR, SCCA, and motorcycle races, among other great events. Whether you are a huge NASCAR fan or not, experiencing a race is something you must do at least once in a lifetime, so why not do it at one of the best tracks in the country?
For an exciting family adventure, head to Ruggles Mine where you can mine for different minerals in one of the oldest mines in America! The largest mine of its kind in the U.S., Ruggles has been operating for more than 175 years. Producing minerals such as feldspar, uranium, and mica the mine is still in operation to a certain degree. Here you and your children can mine for minerals and keep whatever you find! Stop by the gift shop to purchase jewelry or even your own mineral kit!
These are just a few of the wonderful attractions found in New Hampshire. There are museums, theme parks, historic homes, and so much more. To truly experience and delight in the wonders of New Hampshire you will simply have to visit them yourself!
