Utah, settling home of Brigham Young and the Mormons, is among one of the most ruggedly beautiful states in the United States. The majestic Rocky Mountains are the perfect backdrop for any camping excursion or outdoor vacation activity. Famous for the variety of terrain, it is a favorite vacation sport for outdoor sportsmen.

If your sport is skiing, snowboarding, whitewater rafting, golfing or biking then you can enjoy Utah's beauty and participate in your favorite sport all at time. One of the favorite sports activities in Utah is whitewater rafting. Anyone interested in whitewater rafting will find an experience to fit their skill level. For advanced rafters, they have multiple days rafting journeys down the Colorado and Green rivers, with Class IV and Class V rapids. Inexperienced rafters will find several quieter rapids to float down.

Activities like skiing and snowboarding make Utah a great winter vacation spot for people who enjoy the slopes. The Rockies snow caps make Utah a popular site for skiing and snowboarding. If you aren't into cold weather, however, biking in the Rockies during the summer allows you to still enjoy the spectacular Rocky Mountain scenery.

If you are more interested in seeing the urban sights, Salt Lake City has plenty to offer. The history of the area attracts many history buffs to the area, with the living history museum "This Is The Place Park," Pioneer Memorial Museum, the Mormon settlement history and Promontory Point.

For people who wish to see architecture, there are the state capitol, the Mormon temple, and old 1800s buildings. Another great reason to visit Utah is to see the 2002 Olympics sites. The Olympics sparked a tremendous growth period for Salt Lake City and hotels added 2000 to make room for the added visitors.

Whatever you may be interested in, Utah has something for you to enjoy. It is a state rich in history, natural beauty, sporting opportunities and sight-seeing. No matter how long you stay, there will always be something more to do.
